Try running clam as the user "amavis" and make sure the file can be touched by that user. Add this to "/etc/clamd.conf" User amavis And make sure "/etc/amavisd.conf" has: $daemon_user = "amavis"; $daemon_group = "amavis"; Then try something like: "chown amavis.root /var/run/clamav/clamd.ctl" "chmod 770 /var/run/clamav/clamd.ctl" Then again, who knows? Is it a permissions thing? Try running clam as the user “amavis” and make sure the file can be touched by that user.

Add this to “/etc/clamd.conf”
User amavis

And make sure “/etc/amavisd.conf” has:
$daemon_user = “amavis”;
$daemon_group = “amavis”;

Then try something like:
“chown amavis.root /var/run/clamav/clamd.ctl”
“chmod 770 /var/run/clamav/clamd.ctl”

Then again, who knows?
