Open Discussion Day
Well it’s really sneaked up on me but its time for Open Discussion Day. As of tomorrow I will be dropping the use of MSN & AIM Instant Messengers. It will be Jabber & IRC only from here on out. We invite everyone else to simply switch for the day. See how it works and perhaps raise some awareness about open-sourced IM protocols.
The cool (surprising?) thing is that it has been easier than I thought. I’ve been slowly preparing to make the switch and as of today I only have two active contacts that use one of those proprietary formats. It will be easier than I expected.
If anybody needs me I’ll be on Jabber

I found it wasn’t that hard for me to do. Also, I like having control of my own jabber server.
