Ubuntu 7.04 “Feisty” Herd 5 Available For Testing
The latest alpha release of Ubuntu 7.04 “Feisty” is now available for testing. This release is shaping up to be very impressive! I can say that the previous alpha releases (here, here, here & here) have brought about some impressive new features and have been very stable on my two test machines. I would urge anyone with a spare, non-production machine to help in the testing of Feisty.
More info about Feisty Herd 5 (the last of the alpha series) can be found here:

Still no fixes or upgrades for the Wacom bugs that has been there since Dapper, even though it’s very simple fixes.
It’s like artists don’t exist in the Ubuntu world…
Stoffe – if you’d like to share those simple fixes with me perhaps I can share them with the group and, maybe, petition to get them included.
Look for the contact page to email me.
Check out bugs #38336 and #40473 in Launchpad. The things to fix are:
1. Update really old driver to new, stable version
2. Tweak the broken /dev path in Xorg.conf
3. Add a dependency for wacom-tools
And from what it looks like, Wacom stuff should *just work*, for just about anyone.
Thanks
Desktop effects tries to start but there are no window decorations. I used this link: http://wiki.beryl-project.org/wiki/Install_Beryl_on_Ubuntu_Feisty_with_nVidia
to install beryl and emerald-themes. Works great, unlike the compiz that comes with herd 5.
