As some of you may know I’ve been helping test the next Ubuntu release, Dapper v6.04. My only issue so far has been with support for wireless on my notebook.
Previously I’ve had to use ndiswrapper, which ‘wraps’ the windows driver & uses that to load the card. In this next version they’ve implemented a new system that loads a native linux driver that some of the developers have reverse engineered for the Broadcom chipset. Great work guys! This is a huge step forward for not having to rely on the outside community.
Well tonight I’ve finally got it working pretty consistently. For anyone thats interested I’ve got a link for you. Its a .deb package that includes the firmware & does all the installation for you.

Hi, I’ve read what you wrote on ubuntu tutorials and got really interested in that firmware package you spoke of. I use a notebook wifi adapter, which doesn’t work. System wants a firmware, however I can’t download it from repositories, because I’ve no internet access)) Please, if you could give me some advice, I’d be glad. Thanks
