Ubuntu 9.04 “Jaunty” Released: Torrents Available Here

By | 2009/04/23

What a difference thirty minutes can make. I checked for the final release before I left for work, nothing. I checked when I got into work and there it was! I also noticed that the main site was already lousy with traffic and it is only going to get worse. I thought it’d be a good idea to share the .torrent links from here, which will allow you to download the latest image without affecting the main site or any of the mirrors.

Find your preferred version below and start downloading. Also, please be a good citizen and seed at least 1:1.

note: alternate images are text-based installers. desktop images are live-CD installers.

Update: added Edubuntu torrents.
Update: added Netbook Remix (no .torrents) metalink

Can you tell me please what is the difference between ubuntu-9.04-alternate-i386.iso and ubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso???
    Thank you!

For you the easy answer would be: -desktop- have a graphical installer and a live enviroment to test Ubuntu, and the -alternate- a text-only installer but with slighty more options.

    Thanks Saufi!
I remember that i've installed the "alternate" version and the installer was text only.
    I've already downloaded desktop version.

Where is the torrent for the source code release? Surely binaries are not the only things of interest!

Is there a good way to use metalink in Ubuntu (for the sake of argument, 9.10)?

    Repeat after me:

Jaunty is *9.04*. Jaunty is *9.04*. Jaunty is *9.04*. …

Why oh Why can't they put a raid config tool in desktop, I am new to ubuntu after a lifetime of red hat/fedora/centos and I switched over to get a mythTV setup with better support for controllers etc… However so far I am finding it a huge step backwards.

Mind you, I said the same when I moved from Windows to fedora but got through it with practice so I will stick with it.

OK, I take most of it back. I used the server which turned out to have more issues than anything so scrapped it and went for the alternate. Very easy, raid configured a treat and everything working perfectly.

I am converted so far, even the mythbuntu installer on top went without a hitch.

I still think a raid option in the desktop version would be perfect.

I have 1.6 Ghz processor and 256 RAM with no G.Card. I got CD from Canonical. Now my Q is ::
Its sufficient for installing Ubuntu 9.0.4, if yes, then how I can install it with windows without a single error. Is it necessary separate partition. If there will be error(s) while installing, then what I should do to remove Linux.

how i can instal it with windows without error.
