I came home from work this evening to a very pleasant surprise! The XO laptop I ordered had arrived in a smaller-than-expected box. I hope the child on the other end of this donation is as excited as I am!

Mine also arrived today. It’s a lot smaller than I expected. I find the keyboard too small to use comfortably, so I’m posting this from my 15″ MacBook Pro.
I found that the XO doesn’t support wireless networks with WPA (such as my home network), so I had to set up a network especially for it with internet sharing on my mac mini.

I ordered an XO and had some problems with the shipping (they wouldn’t ship it to my work address). Did either of you two get a tracking number or confirmation when they shipped it? Thanks.

Mine arrived Monday and I too was surprised at the package size. I could barely wait for the kids to go to bed to unpack it. I *was* the kid too excited about Christmas to wait! I wonder who the child is that is receiving the twin XO?
Anyway, my XO connected easily to my wireless and I was really amazed at how the laptop is engineered to be so kid-friendly. Our kids are home-schooled and the XO will be a fixture in our curriculum. I’m very impressed with the UI is designed and the applications and built-in hardware are really impressive. Guess I’ve got another open-source project that I’m going to have to look into participating…

Just received my XO laptop, would love some help on loading ubuntu on it
Received mine in Montreal recently and it is what i expected. Small, easy to use, a few good surprises and the camera app/hardware is slick. Looking to get an MP3 player installed and LUV the fact I can slide a 4Gig SD card and it is hidden away. Plugged in a USB 500 gig drive and it recognized it and the way I type don’t really notice the smallness of the keyboard. People laugh when I show them but I mention I have a wireless connection and a terminal window and can use it to manage a network – their jaw drops.
